Eve have regular downtimes as well everyday - but the current expansion really demands a lot of the hardware. Lag has been really bad since Red Moon Rising and in Eve lag can cost you loads of time replacing a lost ship.

little sidenote: I have tested a lot of games and I'm quite sure you will always find black & white pro's and contra's for every game.

I'm not sure how this became a discussion of uptime.
For the record our uptime is higher than US DAoC and nearly all the major MMO providers - even accounting for the twelve days last year that Prydwen was turned off. There have been three instances of unscheduled downtime on the English servers in the previous year totalling 13 days (12 of which was the Prydwen issue) and one example of a repeated zone crash on a live server which was prevented within minutes and fixed properly within hours. Of the four incidents two were not due to the servers but to network problems.
Scheduled maintenance is usually arranged at quiet times and we tend to hold off until we have several things that need the servers to come down for so that we can minimise the amount of disruption. As a result scheduled downtime (outside of patching) also happnes much less often than on many other platforms.

Hehe - Req you've been coming here long enough to know that most of the threads wander off topic and into different but sometimes linked areas. Prydwen.net would not be the same otherwise

yes well tbh the GOA service with the exception of the exceptional bits of downtime has been very good indeed over the last six months. In fact it has been way better than it was say 18 months ago so I don't get all these complaints.

WoW I played last year on EmeraldDream server for a few months and had not a single unscheduled outage nor any lag issues. I'm playing it again now and in the last month on Khadgar have also had zero problems.

Not a comment on GOA's current service, but I do think information people give on other games should be accurate.

you kidding right? I am sorry but I played WoW a few months back and I had multiple incidents of lag, being booted from the game and not being able to get back in. I play on the RP server which is very high population though. So please do not tell me I did not see what I did not see. I noticed last night that there were some bad lag spikes in DaoC.

Like I said WoW was no better to be honest when I played it. Maybe its better now? I don't know I still cannot be bothered to log in an play something I have payed for.

So please do not tell me that I did not see what I saw I do not run around all you a giver of misinformation.
