He dosn't want to announce direct policies like say for the ecnomoy because the economy could be dfferent in 4/5 years time.. so we'll have to wait for that one
The new age...
If it helps Banana, Cameron wants to end 'punch and judy politics' (although im sure hes still going to have a few digs at the opposition when required
)

Britain would have had no choice but to invade Iraq no matter how public opinion was & no matter which party was in power due to Britains status as US-vassal, & I honestly believe that any politician who claims otherwise is either lying or kidding himself.Xest wrote:I'm just not content with Labour giving everyone a free ride and going to war despite the entire nation wanting otherwise amongst other things.
In fact, Britain would probably invade France if the US told them too.

at least britain stood by america when all the other countrys (barring a few cant remember which) wussed out.
Would have been dishonerable not to support america in what they did tbh.
Perhaps it was wrong but then again perhaps we shouldnt have promised unconditional support in fighting terroism straight after the 9/11 incident as all the countrys did.
Chances are if they had gone in on 12/11 insted of leaving it so long there would not have been any opposition. As it was people had been given time to think logically and came to the conclusion that it was probably a bad move however by not supporting america they had gone back on what the UN had promised therefore making a mokery of the whole thing.
Least thats how i saw it.

No I think it was more that other countries took the viewpoint that an aggressive invasion of Iraq (irrespective of wether that was ultimately good or bad) had no direct connection with fighting terrorism (which seemed more or less the UNs viewpoint too) & therefore outside the bounds of their anti-terrism commitment.

no, it was because saddam had WMD's which were never found.Banana wrote:didnt they invade iraq cuz they thought osma was there?
obviously he wasnt (heck even i figured out he wouldnt be there after it had been televised constantly for about a week + ) but that was the reason they gave didnt they?
i'm not denying that saddam had WMD's, but there were no grounds for the invasion (apart from bush's "you-scratch-my-back-i'll-scratch-yours" mentality), and the 'intelligence' used to decide we would invade was just a bunch of lies fabricated to make it acceptable, when it really was not.
i'd rather britain "wussed out" than have 7/7 happen, frankly.
i don't have a sig.
The Canadians had no problem saying no to joining the US in Iraq and they're even more closely tied to the US than we are economically, politically and well, physicallyOohhoO wrote:Britain would have had no choice but to invade Iraq no matter how public opinion was & no matter which party was in power due to Britains status as US-vassal, & I honestly believe that any politician who claims otherwise is either lying or kidding himself.

If we were told to invade France I'd join the army and volunteer to go frontline
