Yes it seems so, it's been a while really hasn't it since I last had one ;) I'm not sure why they find me so attractive :p

I've never even really spoken to this one IIRC so quite why it's randomly attached itself to me I'm not sure :p

[quote="Sharkith"]Its the thin end of the wedge thingy mate - thread ban today and tomorrow only Xest has access to the forums!! Plus your missing the point he is friendly with Tony and Tony has been very good at 'shutting up' some of the more colourful parts of the Labour Party.....

It's a bit odd that Ilaya just made 2 posts both seemingly having a shot at Xest for no apparent reason. Seems fair enough to me and it's not like Xest didn't ask him to explain himself. So the thin end he gets, imagine if he got the thick end first.....ouchy :p

Yes he could have. Going to war on evidence that was more flimsy than a pair of French kinckers is honestly insane.
Xest wrote: Don't get me wrong I'm not defending Labour here, nor am I saying I beleive they were innocent in it all, I'm partly just playing devils advocate and partly saying you can't just totally blame Tony himself because he could've been somewhat setup as a puppet by those who did want to go to war for some alternate reason - Tony is a powerful person and he seems like a pretty decent person too, that's why I think to assume it was his personal mistake is a bit harsh and that possibly the only mistake he made was trusting those who passed him the information.

As has been discussed already, the issue is the media - that's why I can't just accept the one sided story we hear from them, certainly we'll never know the truth either way but we have to be open minded about what the possible truth is and can't just blindly have faith in the media's claims that Tony lied - after all, just food for thought perhaps the fact the goverment did get off so easily is because they really were rather innocent in it all and it's merely typical media bias that's trying to depict them as liars. Again I'm certainly not saying that's the truth but it's something worth thinking about otherwise we're simply letting the media blind them with crap. Each time the media are proven as lying about something and then never make a correction or apology about it so the masses never know the truth it makes me wonder what else more important they lie about.
We will have to leave it there because to be honest I don't agree. The medias views have varied on this. Some Tory press are of course always keen to point out his lies and a few people believe them. However what was most ironic was that the worst Tory press were war mongering long before anyone even heard the might be a little evidnece to be concerned about.

Other parts of the media have not done so however and some of the analysis in The Times for example was very cautious during the whole affair. At least you could work out by reading the analysis there that they were trying to figure out just what was going on. In that paper they also had those for and against the war etc. So the media were not all one way the picture they provided was varied and detailed. I don't buy your portrayal of the media in this.

Of course they always sensationalised every new bit of information. In the end if I was to think that Tony Blair did not make an error of judgement I would really have to see the evidence. We know that is not likely to be clear for years to come - who knows perhaps he will be vindicated. By that time I doubt that many of us will be here to care.

Labour paid quite dearly for the war on Iraq. We know that a 3.6 % swing was fairly consistent with the numbers who said they would protest over the war. It is not surprising that the Lib Dems picked most of that up. Losing over 120 seats from your majority indicated just how much people wanted Labour's freedom curbed. What remains to be seen is if they can claw back that loss in credibility.

Don't forget that the first year of the war the only media allowed was the handpicked one by the goverment. (media IN iraq that is) (dunno if that has changed tbh)
