Bristols are very nice, especially when they're facing you from the opposite end of a Bath.

I lived in Bristol until I was 13 and it really went downhill for a while not sure if it has improved as it was 11 years ago since I was there (well I've been to it since to see relatives but not much).
That said there isn't many UK cities I actually like so I'm fairly picky I like York, Bath, Bournemouth, Poole, Leeds and a few others but most cities in the UK really just don't seem that nice :/

not that i'm aware of, mum would know but shes not home the old register office is now in the middle of the new shopping centre development, and the new one is in st nicks market.Xest wrote:Haven't they done something crazy like turned some of the old council buildings into flats or a hotel or something?
oh downend! its not that near to me (im in brislington, right on the edge, almost by on bath road), but i know exactly what you mean about the sprawling. its happening everywhere, longwell green and bedminster have been recent 'victims' to lots of houses appearing out of what used to be great open spaces. luckily thats not happened in my neck of the woods much yet, but i cant see it being long (especially with a lot of houses being converted into flats, but im sure thats not exclusive to bristol)Xest wrote:When I moved away I remember them doing a fair bit to the shopping area and it was looking pretty nice back then. It had really nice cycle tracks too, you could get anywhere on a bike from the outskirts all the way to the centre through to the other side pretty easily. The bits I didn't like were that crime rates were fairly high (worst in Europe for car crime for a little while but has lost that title now which is good) and the fact the city was beginning to sprawl like no tommorrow, all the old fields I messed around in and places I built tree houses are now massive Warehouses or housing estates which is a really sad sight. It was the Downend area I lived in, I don't know if you know it but if you do you'll probably know what I mean about the sprawl in that part of the city!
the bike routes are still in place and it is really easy to get anywhere.
the crime rate (especially locally) seems to have gone down a lot.
i don't have a sig.
