Two Spellcrafting Developments I'd like to see...

1. Spellcrafters to be able to salvage gems from drops:- Mythic, in their infinite wisdom, decided that because Spellcrafting (and Alchemy) were "advanced tradeskills" that Spellcrafters and Alchemists could not salvage anything. This was ok, before ToA, because a lot of money could be made from Spellcrafting, because there was a higher demand for spellcrafted armour/weapons. With ToA though, everyone uses artefacts and so the demand for Spellcrafting is considerably less. Spellcrafters, therefore, are not making as much gold as they once were.
I would like to see this changed so that gems could be salvaged from drops. The gems could either be re-used to imbue items, or they could be sold to merchants for money.
2. Recognition of Spellcrafters' work:- When you get a player-crafted item, like a weapon or piece of armour, you can see who crafted it when you delve for information. When such an item has been Spellcrafted, it would be nice to also see the name of the Spellcrafter who imbued it. I know separate gems show the name of the crafter, but as soon as they are used to imbue an item, all credit for that person has been removed from the item that has been imbued.

I agree on point 1 and 2.
Actually, point 2 was taken up in a grab-bag or such. And the response from Mythic was that is it possible for several SCers to imbue each a gem, meaning the list of crafters could be 5 peoples. 1 for the weapon and 4 persons imbueing one jewel each. And they didn't think that would be fitting.
I myself don't see it as a trouble, would be nice to have your name on great items, a bit of marketing so to speak.

I actually like the idea of being able to salvage an item to get gems. In fact, what I'd really like to see would be for spellcrafters and alchemists to be able to salvage accessories in the same way that traditional crafters can salvage armour, weapons and instruments. Obviously, it would have an impact on the economy, in that items which are now worth 5g to a merchant could be worth much, much more in terms of salvaged gems.
Edit - just read Darim's reply, so I deleted the paragraph where I suggested that adding names to spellcrafted items would be easy. Obviously there's a bit more to it than I realized.

hm
maybe regarding point 2 they could put it so if 3+ gems are made by the same crafter then their names appear otherwise blank.
Guess that might be too hard tho.

In actual fact to include all the crafters who could have had a part in the making of an item you would need 9 spaces.
For an item of scale armour you would need a space for the tailor who made the backing, the armour-crafter, one for each gem maker, one for the person who combined them one for the proc and one for the person who applied the proc.
I asked GoA / Mythic for this a long time ago when no recognition was made of the tailor who made the backing for armour so it is a very longstanding request.

Spellcrafters still get orders, it's alchemy that needs love not spellcrafting.
I didn't have ablative procs on my warriors toa template mp chain and I never had problems. Unfortunately we cannot say the same if one lacks sc. Alchemy is just unpreferred now.

One thing that could make Alch more desirable is that if they could create stacks of powerpots. And I'm talking big stacks. Like 50-100 bottles. Let's say a batch of those would cost 1-2p in the market, that would be good cash and great usage.

Along those lines, I'd like it if you could /mcraft the way you can /mbuy. In particular for trinkets, it would be great to just /mcraft 10 of the jewelry boxes that take 20 units of metal to work through a whole stack, rather than having to hit the button every minute and a half. Obviously Mythic is somewhat sympathetic given the introduced the 20 unit trinkets, and this would just be the logical next step.

No disrespect to you mate, but that's the sort of lame excuse I'd expect from Mythic and for no other reason than they can't be "arsed" to work on the code to give spellcrafters recognition for their work.
You know as well as I do that 99% of the time the same spellcrafter who makes the gems, imbues the item. The logical solution, therefore, is to forget all that nonsense about 4 spellcrafters being involved to make gems for an item, by simply making it so that the Spellcrafter who actually does the imbuing part of the crafting gets the credit.
If this were the case, there would be a greater incentive for spellcrafters to take responsibility for completing whole spellcrafting requests, without relying on secondary spellcrafters for minor gems. As we know, a low skilled spellcrafter cannot imbue gems that are higher than he can make. With this in mind, there would also be an incentive for lower level spellcrafters to improve their skill, so that they can eventually imbue items and get credit for it by having their names show up in the delve.
