was speaking to the current GM the other day on MSN and he highlighted some of the issues that he has taken on since he started a couple of months back.

As I know the guy quite well I can tell you he has the pulse of the community and is doing what he can to represent the wants and needs of the community more than has been done before.

I think from what I have been told that Xest has hit the nail on the head though.

in addition though... there should be more consistency as there is only one GM now for the english servers so effectively think of it as being a policy change... there may be some conflicts against past decisions (which in my opinion is a good thing) but moving forward it should see some level of consistency of decisions from a single GM.

thanks for the info Takits - I am probably too long gone now though to really want to go back even though this GM deserves the support. The Kaminjosvig project is now really up and running and I am not backing of that anytime soon!

In fairness, a fresh start sounds all well and good, but why would any company hire new staff when it already has experienced staff members with the required skills.

It is probable (or at least possible) that any Daoc staff that is transferred will at least try to not repeat any mistakes they made in the past. Why would brand new staff be any better, seeing that they won't even have any experience ?

the new staff has experience as a player/customer moreso than any former GM so can at least empathise... and the old staff have or will soon have transferred to WAR which to me is a reason for not playing WAR on euro servers if ever I have seen one.

Well by fresh start I meant more that I'd have hoped they'd learned from their mistakes and realised that for WAR, it would be a good idea to start doing things professionally. The fact that there's been mistakes already suggests that this hasn't happened, that they're not even willing to accept yet that they've failed abysmally in providing even an acceptable service, let alone a fantastic service thus far. This is probably because, as you say, it's the same old staff.

I'd argue new staff means you're at least in with a chance of having people who feel they should be trying to please their customers as opposed to the existing staff who instead know they can get away with not pleasing their customers and not have management force them to change their ways. The new euro DAoC GM seems to be an example of this judging by the fact that so far reports about their actions have mostly been positive.

I will certainly be avoiding anything the old GoA DAoC team (new GoA WAR team) has anything to do with.

In fact... I wouldn't even touch it with YOUR bargepole let alone mine!

I think one good thing in GOA favour...

no matter which e&e i have listened too..
even tho they have quit being e&e and stuff
they keep in touch with the GM's

So whilst goa err running of games may suck, the people they employ are nice :D
