Small comparison between DAoC and WoW advertisment.
In my little country, 8 copies of DAoC were sold and ~1400 of WoW.

TBH, I think WoW doubled the MMO market, and I know quite some people that are bored of WoW, they just don't see the alternative, and with some strong comperative advertisment DAoC could get some on it's side.
It is however a fact, that WoW got A LOT of people, simply because beta was so damn fun, and I really can't see how WoW players used to sexy low lvl questing and exploration can get hooked by killing Water Beetles with uber down time to regain health/mana. Pre-made Thidranki chars with GOOD equipment would be a much better trial if you ask me...

I think all the friendships that have sprung up over the years will keep DAoC going to a certain extent. That's one aspect of the game that appeals to me. But, the question is how long these friendships can hold out against the many players who have left the game. In the end, friendships won't keep the game alive, because slowly those friends we've made will drift away.
But, those friendships can move from game to game... as I know from my own personal experience... some of my DAoC friends I joined up with in SWG and WoW. If a really good new mmorpg came along that had all the elements of DAoC (and more), then I guess we'd find scores of old friends joining together to play it. So, perhaps the most important thing is not so much what game we play, but keeping the old friendships alive.

I'd done with DAOC, but i wish Mythic the best - despite all the times they really ****ed me off with their game (no love without hate you say
).
And if they make DAOC 2 I will get it for sure.
I just hope it will get rid of all the crap of nr 1 and rip of all the best from other mmorpgs on the market.
