I voted Original. But if we were to go back to original I'd like to keep the graphical enhancements and some of the grind-removing features that have happened in later versions.

To me, the idea of the Classic game, based on 3 warring realms based in Dark Age Western Europe is what made it attractive. I don't mind SI too much, but the notion of new areas that were never really a true part of Dark Age history spoiled the game. Yes, I admit there were never ever Wizards casting fireballs etc. in Dark Age Europe, but that aside, the Classic game was the only version that felt like the Dark Ages... or how I expect it should have felt. Even with New Frontiers they introduced architecture, in the form of the upgraded castles and keeps, that was definitely not in existence until at least the 13th Century in Western Europe. The Classic version was basic, with the Old Frontiers and that's what made it so appealing. It was this embryonic version of DAoC that was so attractive. But all that is lost now, with all the expansions that have (and let's be honest here) only been added to try and maintain a regular player base. That's why I stopped playing. The game had moved too far off the original version. I think Mythic have made a big mistake introducing expansions that added stuff that was out of context and I think this is why the player base is dwindling. If they'd stuck with the Classic version, but improved graphics and gameplay, without adding stupid stuff, the game would be stronger than it's ever been. IMO.

SI. I joined just before, and I really loved the community spirit Hib/Pryd had back then. It's quite sad to see that has all gone :(

I've been thinking about this a lot recently.
I played since beta, then several years in US, then a few more here.
I spent the best part of a RL year pretty much living in Emain on my US Warden, back when Wardens were still used as sweepers & interrupters, before ToA turned them into boring BG-bots. That was the best time in DAoC for me. Real epic RvR!
Housing ruined the community aspect of crafting.
ToA was great apart from it ruining RvR.
NF completed the transition from Dark Age of Camelot to Dark Age of Counterstrike.
After that the game was only really fun for me in PvE, and as so many people have said, there are much better MMORPGs for PvE.
But the more I think about it, the more I feel that the real turning point... the point where the rot set in... was when they enabled alt-tabbing.
