Mythic are working on something new, well as new as u can call it, it's Warhammer Online, it will be here in 2007 iirc and many ppl already call it DAoC 2.I think what Mythic should do is abandon DAoC... perhaps keeping a few servers open for staunch supporters of the game. Mythic could then concentrate on developing a new mmorpg entirely... perhaps something linked to DAoC, but not DAoC, if you see what I mean.

Having played both US and EU DAOC, I can say I've never experienced lag on US servers but have intermittently on the EU servers. US server stability is higher. US customer support seems more responsive, more flexible and less prone to side-stepping issues, and of course there's in-game CSRs. US servers have web services that have additional features and aren't broken for months on end. And of course US servers haven't suffered any catastrophic database corruptions (which is such an unforgiveable mistake for an online game where the character database is the single most important thing).
With the benefit of hindsight and were I to do it all again, I would have serious reservations about starting on EU servers. But of course, with hindsight I know that I met a lot of wonderful people and made some great friends on the EU servers and wouldn't want to have missed out on that .... but that's not something GOA can take any credit for.
There's not a lot that advertsing can do now that the game engine is long in the tooth, the time for GOA to advertise the game properly was 2 years ago, and they failed, miserably. Of course they weren't helped by Mythic releasing an expansion that did more to drive players away than attract them.
Mythic need to work hard to make sure DAOC II is a real killer, building on the strengths of DAOC and learning from the mistakes. With a bit of luck they'll rethink any franchise deals too.
Sorry for the doom and gloom, just giving an ex-players perspective and perhaps showing why GOA will struggle to rebuild player numbers. All the recent Prydwen problems are rather a disincentive to reactivate anyway, but the real killer blow was being told by GOA support I would have to pay to re-activate my accounts just to find out if my characters have been stripped. Top customer support! A bit like saying to a bank "Hi, when the bank was robbed recently was my account affected?" and being told "Sorry we can't say unless you pay us". Sorry GOA, but I think I'll pass.

Personally I still love this game, its got the best PvP of any mmoprg i know. I'm enjoying playing more now than I ever have.
Word of mouth is what has sold this game, so keep telling people how good it is!

In all my time playing daoc, i've never seen an advert or anything for DAoC in denmark, maybe the community isnt that big for this game in denmark, but how will it ever grow any larger if not, its not like "yes theres only 100 daoc players in denmark so lets not make ads there"
because its not like the ads should be for the 100 players, but for the 500000 other gamers in denmark :>
