When was DAoC at it's best?
Yah but RvR was much better thenLieva wrote:I still think you peeps are nuts
SI brought SCing into the game
And animists.
game went down hill rapidly then
You could go out sub-L50 & have fun & be successful in rogs
High-RRs didn't exist
we still had OF
no MLs/artes/toa-bonuses
people still crafted in the cities
no alt-tab
nobody really used voice-comms
all those sweet things were sadly eliminated one by one & are all history now

I agree with most of that bar the voice comms. It's good to put a voice to people & it's sooo much more fun to be drunk on voice comms & have a laugh rather than mashing the keyboard with drunk fists - do miss some of the drunk mistells though (Maeloch's are usually par excellence).
TOA bonuses could have been done much more subtly & stopped the caster op'dness that occured, then they'd have been ok.
Those that can't lead follow.
Those that can lead should admit when they're lost.

I didn't start till Si was just released. Just mentioning it reminds me of getting up at 6am to play Daoc before school on my old pc that took about 2 minuites to load the game up to charcter select. Whatta intro tune ;p
On the whole i'd proberly say SI was my favorite part, when i was clueless on how to play a MMO, Running around in Emain trying to solo as a druid was Class, was so fun exploreing the world and learning the game and playing with other guys (Like my first keep raid in Midguard at level 24, With Marsh Horde, Darkveil and Keepers of The Sacred Nut, We lost but it was an amazing site for me back then).
I liked ToA for its Master level and Artifact ideas, Like the Chess game, Belt of Sun or the sheild you get on the treasure chest island. And the misc effects from the items, like croc form o/ but like others said the impact of artis and MLs was abit heavy in RvR.
Imo i also think the first few months atleast, of NF where great, full blown keep takes and defences where such fun. But the expansions after that, really just lasted a few days and where nothing that could keep me glued to the game well enough.
Great memories of the game and the community. Too hard to really stick to any other MMO after it though

It is actually interesting to see things that were in daoc appearing in other games but NOT being overpowered
Eg.
The shammy in WoW have a totem which generates mana.
A mana fop.
Its combat useable PvP & PvE but its not overpowered
I dont play the PvP side but in PvE you still run out of mana if you overcast
There are prolly others (jewelcrafting has been introduced which reminded me of spellcrafting but doesnt seem to have such a major impact) but thats the main one ive seen at my lowbie levels

I'd say just before si and with si I remember RvR before si was good fun running around like a newb asking why amg was called amg and mmg called mmg and then getting si and crafting for days on end to get sc up when it first came out and making good friends with other people that sat in tnn crafting all day. Then Ofc it was when eclipse was made and at it's most active I miss those ppl so much, tbh looking back I dont think any of us will get that gaming feeling we got back then with any new game that comes out because for alot of us it was the first mmo we played properly and we were younger than we are now had more time less shit to worry about etc etc
Lets hope war is good fun hey!
