problem with start menu

Post by pikeh »

its not showing active programs tabs and its really annoying. only way to switch is alt+tab instead of just clicking on them on start bar. Any one know a way of fixing this?

do you mean task bar or start menu? active progs appear on the task bar, most recently used progs appear on the start menu (on the xp desktop) but active progs dont appear on the start menu in any confg iirc

Can possibly fix it by restarting Explorer.

Bring up task manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del, after that depends on OS and version).
Switch to processes, select explorer.exe in the list, press end process.
Ti restart explorer go back to the Applications tab, press new task...
type explorer.exe in the box and hit OK.

Hopefully now things are back to normal.
