if i buy a laptop..

will it come with a disc for the operating system so i can install additional components, such as the microsoft IME? doh:

Most laptop manufacturers supplied a modified Windows CD that has the drivers for the laptop built into it. Others just ship a standard Windows CD, some ship a standard one with their logo on the disc and finally, some provide a non-standard proprietary system for restoring your OS.

So the answer is, depends on the manufacturer, and even then it depends on the model, the revision and so forth - companies change their way of doing it all the time.

Odd, I was looking at laptops today at pcworld.
They've stopped selling Apple..

Make sure you get the full windows software and not some stupid reformat disk. Those things suck :(

Although in my eyes Apple's are PCs, it's just that most people abbreviate "MS Windows PC" to PC.
